DRUG ADDICTION

Drugs are any substance that change the body functions. Classification of drugs include; prescription drugs, legal drugs and illegal drugs. As drugs alter our emotions, our thoughts and behaviors, there has been a rampant surge of increased drug use among diverse age groups and genders. The goal of using these drugs includes achieving euphoria but also optimizing social skills especially with young people. As people continue to use drugs, they become dependent, tolerant, have compulsiveness, loss of control and becoming dysfunctional. People who have these traits, suffer from drug addiction. When a person suffers from drug addiction, all aspects of their lives are affected including; health aspect, family aspect, work aspect, community aspect, parenting aspect. A person in drug addiction is powerless and unmanageable. Also, one being in addiction, one experiences emotional turmoil, distorted thought process and compulsive behaviors. Hence people in drug addiction get lost in loneliness suffering social stigma. Nonetheless, drug addiction is reversible and treatable. A person can recover to become manageable and functional.
