Children are classified as young ones at the age of twelve years and below. At this stage, they are heavily dependent on caregivers; caregivers, refers to the child’s immediate family. The relationship between children and their caregivers is very crucial in establishing the foundation of the child’s identity. This process is called attachment. During attachment, a child desires to be near the caregivers. Also, a child looks up to the caregiver as a figure of comfort and safety in the face of fear and threat. Also, a child looks up to a caregiver as a base of security from which the child can explore the surrounding environment. The relationship between the child and caregiver determines the type of attachment a child develops; secure attachment, anxious attachment, avoidant attachment, disorganized attachment.
